Perozzi to defend world title in Bermuda
Teresa Perozzi will defend her WBA middleweight belt against American April Ward during Teachers Rugby Football Club (TRFC) Fight Night, The Royal Gazette can reveal.
A TRFC spokesperson today confirmed that the 38-year-old southpaw will put her world title on the line during the upcoming event to be held at Berkeley Institute School Gym March 10.
The TRFC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that April Ward out of Arkansas will be boxing Teresa Perozzi for the WBA middleweight title.
“The WBA has conditionally sanctioned the bout and they agree that April is the next one up to compete for the title.”
Perozzi's pro record currently stands at 8-4-1 compared to Ward's whose stands at 8-4-0 with seven knockouts.
“April is a 8-4 with seven knockouts, so will be a formidable opponent,” the TRFC spokesperson added. “We look forward to a great event.”
March's fight will consists of ten, two- minute rounds and will be officiated by WBA certified judges and referees.
Mother of one Perozzi landed the WBA middleweight belt in Trinidad last month after prevailing against American Lorissa Rivas on a split decision.
