Bermuda School of Music’s free concerts start tomorrow
Faculty of the Bermuda School of Music will launch their 2012 series of free concerts tomorrow.
On offer at the 12pm show is a varied programme that includes both classical and jazz selections.
“There will be something for everyone,” promised BSM director Lloyd Matthew.
The hour-long programme will begin with von Weber’s ‘Divertimento, Op 38’ performed by Jeremiah Smith (guitar) and Zacchaeus Rodwell (piano). This will be followed by organist Charles Callahan playing ‘Grand Choir’ by Spence, and Stephen Crawford performing three pieces for guitar: ‘Allemande’ by Dowland, ‘Valse No 4’ by Barrios, and ‘Asturias No 11’ by Albéniz.
The Bermuda School of Music Jazz Quintet will make their BSM noontime concert series debut with Richard Rogers’ ‘My Favourite Things’.
Its members are: La Tannia Ellerby (violin), Shelton Bean (drums), Raymond George (piano), Jeremiah Smith (guitar) and Clarence Burrows (bass).
The penultimate offering will pair organist Charles Callahan with pianist Oliver Grant in a performance of ‘Amazing Grace’, while Lionel Thomas (violin) and Charles Callahan will end the programme with Kreisler’s ‘Praeludium and Allegro’.
The concert will be held at Wesley Methodist Church on Church Street.
Donations to the Bermuda School of Music’s bursary fund, which financially assists students who could otherwise not afford lessons, are welcomed.
