Hood finish season on a high note

Robin Hood 3 PHC Zebras 2
Robin Hood ended their first-ever term in the Premier Division triumphantly thanks to a fine performance by midfielder Drewonde Bascome.
He not only worked tirelessly on the BAA field, rallying to aid his defence and consistently feeding his front players with defence-splitting passes, but also fired a hat-trick.
His third proved to be the goal that broke a 2-2 deadlock after 76 minutes.
PHC started positively when they caused Timmy Figureido in the Hood goal to fall to the ground to save two sizzling shots from Antwan Russell and Cecoy Robinson in the first 20 minutes.
Hood responded with fiery winger Fredy Mascarenhas shooting just over.
But it was PHC who scored first after 26 minutes when Robinson netted from an angle on the right.
Hood refused to allow their opponents to take the upperhand, reaping dividends for their persistence after 31 minutes when Bascome sent home a scorcher from 35 yards that gave Traez Place in the PHC goal no chance.
Just before the break Robinson should have put PHC a goal ahead but he was woefully wide from just 10 yards.
When play restarted for the second half, PHC showed more ambition and took a deserved lead when skipper Russell was fouled in the penalty area and made good his spot-kick.
But Andrew Bascomes side responded positively by buckling down after the wave of early PHC pressure and clawed their way back into contention.
After Figureido had palmed a Robinson shot off the post Hood came into the game with momentum and with Bascome, Charlie Watson and Mike Pace in full control in midfield they pinned down their opponents.
They got their reward after 72 minutes when right full back Vashua Crockwell was fouled and Bascome levelled the score from the penalty spot.
With a draw seeming to be the most likely result, it was that man Bascome who came through again. He teamed up with the hard-working Mascarenhas before slotting home the winner.
