Q: What is image stabilisation?
A: Image stabilisation is a feature found in digital cameras that identifies the optimum moment required to allow light to enter the camera. Light enters the camera when the shutter is opened and if this occurs when the camera is shaking; the images taken can become blurred.
The stabiliser measures the movement of the camera and when the movement of the camera appears to be at a minimum, the shutter will be allowed to open. Image stabilisation plays a significant role in picture quality when using point and shoot cameras.
