Bermuda singer to open for Natalie Cole
Bermuda-born singer Bailey Outerbridge will tonight open for Grammy Award winning performer Natalie Cole at a charity event in Stamford, Connecticut.
The event, organised by Dana’s Angels Research Trust (DART) is intended to raise funds to study Neimann-Pick Type C, a rare genetic metabolic disorder.
The group is named after Dana Marella, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2002 when she was eight years old. Her brother Andrew has also been diagnosed with the condition.
The concert, which will take place at the Palace Theatre, is headlined by Natalie Cole, the daughter of legendary singer Nat King Cole.
Miss Outerbridge, who recently appeared on the compilation album Ride The Wave Volume Two, is scheduled to open for Ms Cole, and premier a song she wrote about Ms Marella.
Tonight’s performance will be the second DART fundraiser that Miss Outerbridge has taken part in.
On Monday, the 18-year-old held a small concert at her school, the Tisch School of Music with the funds going toward DART.
Her father, Andrew Outerbridge, said the event raised a few hundred dollars for the charity, with both of Dana’s parents in attendance.
“It wasn’t a huge amount but it was well attended and people gave what they could,” Mr Outerbridge said.
