A Bermuda DJ and a longtime hospitality worker have joined forces to open a new nightclub in St Georges.
Club Minaj on Water Street is owned by DJ Dennis (Bussy) Maynard and Swizzle Inn manager Benjamin Smith.
The two businessmen hope the club will play a role in revitalising St. Georges and tourism in general.
They hope to attract a diverse clientele including tourists, with a variety of music by leading local DJs plus live entertainment and open mike events.
The club opens from noon until 3am with happy hour drink specials nightly.
Mr Smith said he was also proud to say, given the economic downturn, that the new club had created as many as 15 part-time jobs.
The line of applicants was out the door when we advertised and we took in 30 applications, for everything from bartenders to security to cleaners, Mr Smith said.
He said the owners were trying to create a mature party vibe and have reached out to the police at the Southside station to welcome them to the club.
