For many couples, a horse and carriage is the transportation of choice after tying the knot in Bermuda

But Larry and Dana Hill, from Cartersville, Georgia, elected to ride away from Holy Trinity Church in Hamilton Parish on their rented moped.

The ceremony was remarkably small, with the verger doubling as both the organist and the witness.

Mrs Hill, 48, said: “We wanted it to be something that was unique, something that was special for us. We were so happy. Everything was perfect.”

The couple, who have been together for 12 years, have both visited the Island on several occasions in the past. It was on a past visit years ago that they decided Bermuda was the only place they wanted to get married.

Mr Hill, 56, said: “We had been to Bermuda before and when we were there, it struck us. It felt like this was the right place to get married when we got to that point.

“It was even better than we expected. Driving through town afterwards you would not believe how many people were giving us the thumbs up and asking to take our picture.”
