Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert will takes the stage today before a large crowd — around 37,000 people, if Boston’s Fenway Park baseball stadium is full to capacity.

Gombey performer Shawn Caisey gets to throw the first pitch of the game, and Mr Furbert will sing the US National Anthem alongside local singers Tricray Astwood and Steve Easton.

Bermuda’s partnership with the Boston Red Sox includes a prominent place at the team’s home stadium, as part today’s launch of the annual “Bermuda Day” promotion for the Island.

Commuters around Fenway Park can expect to encounter Gombey performers, as part of the “aggressive marketing campaign” by the Bermuda Department of Tourism.

Mr Furbert, meanwhile, starts today extolling the Island on Boston WZLX FM’s Karlson and McKenzie show.

Bermuda will follow the Red Sox in digital ads and stadium signs, as the Tourism representatives head on over the next few days to Old Greenwich, Connecticut; New York City; Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.
