A 51-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in an attack on Rambling Lane, Pembroke last night.

Police on the scene confirmed the victim is believed to be a resident of the area. He has been treated in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wounds. The injuries are not said to be life threatening.

This morning police issued this statement: "Around 10.23pm on Tuesday, May 22, police responded to a report of gunshots being fired and someone being shot and injured outside a residence on Rambling Lane, Pembroke.

"Police officers were immediately dispatched to the location to investigate the report.

"During the initial investigation, police ascertained that one person was seen fleeing from the area, description given as being approximately 6ft with a slim build.

"A dark coloured motorcycle was also seen speeding away from the scene around that time. The victim, a 51-year-old Devonshire man, received multiple gunshot wounds to his body and is presently being treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for his injuries. At this time his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Rambling Lane, Pembroke area around the time of the incident, or have any information whether they believe it to be important or not to contact the Serious Crime Unit on telephone number 247-1185, or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-TIPS (8477)."
