Burglary thwarted in Pembroke

Police praised a “vigilant member of the public” who helped thwart a burglary in Pembroke on Saturday.

A spokesman said the person reported suspicious activity in the North Shore Road / Whitney Avenue area. Officers promptly attended the scene around 1.45pm.

“Following a search of the surrounding area by officers, three males were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

“In addition, suspected stolen property was subsequently recovered. The alleged burglars remain in police custody pending further inquiries,” he said.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods at the earliest opportunity by contacting the nearest police station or calling the main police number, 295-0011.”
