PLP hits back at pamphlets criticism
The Opposition is criticising a pamphlets sent out to residents by Government because it undermines their ability mislead Bermudians about the Budget, a Progressive Labour Party spokesperson charged.
Entitled Let Us Build One Another, Together, the pamphlets were called a citizens budget by Premier Paula Cox — but attacked as Government electioneering by One Bermuda Alliance MP Mark Pettingill.
Offering updates on the 2012/13 Budget, the pamphlet was dismissed by Mr Pettingill as an electioneering, campaign document that should have been paid for by Government.
Hitting back at the Shadow Public Works Minister, the spokesman said: The Budget pamphlets includes a lot of inconvenient truths for his party. It shows that you cant magically balance the Budget by simply cutting consultants, Ministerial travel and Ministerial Salaries as he and his party would have the people believe.
And the spokesman questioned by the OBA, a party that is supposedly committed to transparency, could condemn the release of Budget information.
The response did not provide costs for the pamphlets.
