The City of Hamilton hosted a public installation ceremony at City Hall yesterday for its recently elected board members.

The ceremony, which was the first of its kind, had the theme The Implication of Change.

The event included remarks from several prominent religious leaders, musical performances and statements from Premier Paula Cox and Governor George Fergusson.

Said Rev Bishop Vernon Lambe Sr: “We must go beyond mere implication to implementation.”

He continued, paraphrasing Charles Dickens: “These are the worst of times and the best of times for in the midst of our calamities are unprecedented opportunities.”

Premier Paula Cox offered her congratulations to the new leadership, commending them on already having “hit the ground running”.

Mayor Graeme Outerbridge stated in his welcoming remarks that he hoped the ceremony would become a tradition after each election.

Governor Fergusson reaffirmed the new board members, while Elder Kevin Santucci, spiritual advisor to the Corporation of Hamilton, offered an installation prayer.
