A man was fined $400 after police caught him with a small glass bottle that had been refashioned into a pipe.

Shaun Hunt, of Midland Heights, Hamilton, pleaded guilty to possessing drug equipment.

Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney told Magistrates’ Court that on February 13 police found Hunt, 47, in possession of a glass bottle that appeared to have been fitted for the use of controlled substances.

Police noticed the pipe contained traces of white residue, which they later had analysed. The substance tested positive as residue from a controlled drug.

Hunt apologised to the court, stating, “I was homeless then, I was going through a lot. Now I’m cleaned up.”
