Local bands celebrate Fourth of July

Local bands will be rocking out in Victoria Park this weekend in a bid to usher in the July 4th celebration.

Groups like Duty Free, Working Title, Kennel Boys, Bad Current, Sonic Sanctuary and Paper Cut Outs will perform head-knocking tunes at the Summer Sunday event.

Rockin de Rock will kick off at 3pm. A children’s play area with fun castle, face paintings, cotton candy and popcorn will also be on hand along with food stalls and a vendors’ village.

Thomas Lightbourne, event marketing co-ordinator for the City of Hamilton, said: “I encourage people to come out mainly because it’s a family event and a positive event to come out to.

“Even though rock might not appeal to everyone, it’s a fun time and there will be a kid’s fun area and you can chat with friends and meet new people. It’s just a fun environment.”

The free event will finish at 8pm.
