Scraders strikes double gold

Rising Bermuda track star Kyrah Scraders has grabbed two gold medals at the CAC Junior Championships in San Salvador in El Salvador.

Scraders won a gold in the 800 metres on day one of the Championships on Friday, finishing in with personal best time of two minutes and 12 seconds.

The teenager, who claimed a silver at the recent Carifta Games, then claimed another gold on Saturday, cruising to victory in the 1500 metres in 4:53.65.

Sprinter Kyle Webb has qualified for the World Junior Championships after coming third in his 200 metre heat on Saturday, posting a time of 21.38 seconds.

Scheduled to compete in last night’s finals were Webb and Taahirah Butterfield in the boys’ and girls’ 100 metres respectively; Dage Minors, Shaquile Dill, Scraders and Rachel Fox in the 800 metres, Taylor-Ashley Bean in the 3,000 metres and Justin Donawa in the long jump.
