The award-winning University of Newcastle, Australia Chamber Choir will perform in Bermuda this week.

The choir will give two performances and a choral workshop here, on its way to the World Choir Games competition in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Chamber Choir has won national competitions in Australia, performed around the globe and released seven CDs.

It was founded in 1995 and is made up of students and community members with a mutual interest in singing and performing a challenging and varied repertoire from Renaissance to contemporary and Australian works.

Entry is by audition.

The choir won Australia’s popular highly rated TV programme, ‘Battle of the Choirs’, in 2008.

The choir will first perform tomorrow at a free concert in Queen Elizabeth Park at 12pm.

A workshop for choral singers will take place later, at the Middle Road church between 7pm and 9.30pm.

Participation is $25 per person. To register, e-mail nsmith@ibl.bm.

A second concert will take place Friday at St Paul‘s Church in Paget at 7.30pm. Tickets, adults $40, children and seniors $20, will be sold at the door.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the ministry of St Paul’s Church.
