Services provided by the Department of Financial Assistance will be administered on a limited basis this week, due to a one-week training session for management and staff.

The training sessions on a “new computer system” begins today and will run through to Friday, July 13.

A spokesperson said the new system “will increase efficiency and ensure greater risk management”.

Emergency cases will be dealt with and application documents will be accepted but “service will be limited”.

Current clients in need of appointments are urged to book them with their respective financial assistance workers for the week beginning July 16.

The department spokesperson also issued an apology “to the public for any inconvenience that may be experienced during this time”, and a “public thank you” as the department “aims to implement and improve service to the community”.
