Three face insurance fraud charges
Two men and a woman were yesterday charged in Magistrates Court with insurance fraud involving more than $75,000.
Camille Canillas Orteza, 25, of Somerset, Rhyan Calingasan, 32, of Pembroke and Ferdinand Malabanan, 41, of Pembroke face a total of 14 counts of receiving $75,711.71 by deception from BF&M.
The charges involve eight insurance claims dating back to April last year through to March of this year. Ms Orteza alone is charged with ten counts; she faces another two charges with Mr Calingasan and an additional charge with Mr Malabanan.
All three defendants, who are Filipino nationals, denied the charges.
They were released on $5,000 bail with one surety each and ordered to report to Hamilton Police Station every Monday until their next court date.
They were also barred from legitimate travel until the case has been dealt with in court. The case will be mentioned again on July 23.
