  • CD&P has laid off half a dozen workers

Conyers Dill & Pearman has laid off half a dozen employees.

The Royal Gazette understands those let go at the law firm included marketing and administrative staff.

Sources said six people in marketing were laid off on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A media contact for the company also no longer works there as of this week and an automatic e-mail response referred our inquiries to someone at Codan Canada.

Codan Canada is currently advertising for marketing and administrative staff in Toronto, Canada, including a communications specialist, marketing and business development coordinator, CRM specialist and a compliance coordinator.

Codan Canada is a private company providing information technology support, data storage, marketing services and compliance risk management services to Conyers worldwide.

Conyers officials declined to respond to repeated requests for comment this week.

In January last year Conyers was reported to have made 13 people redundant, including, sources said, lawyers and support staff.

Conyers also would not comment on the job cuts.

Conyers is one of Bermuda’s longest established law firms having set up on the Island in 1928, now with offices globally.
