Heavy trading in BF&M
Unusually heavy trading in insurer BF&M Ltd helped to push the The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index higher last week.
A total of 152,000 BF&M shares changed hands in trading over the five days, as the firms share price rose 15 cents, or one percent, to close at $15.85 on Friday.
The biggest climber of the week was Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd, which edged ten cents, or 3.3 percent higher to close the week on $3.10, as 20,500 shares traded.
Argus Group Holdings Ltd also recorded gains, climbing five cents, or 1.4 percent, to $3.75.
Butterfield Bank shares remained unchanged on $1.25 in a week when 20,000 of the banks shares changed hands, while Butterfields preference shares dipped $10, or 0.8 percent, as 15 were traded.
Ascendant Group Ltd also saw 3,280 shares traded, but remained unchanged on $12.72.
The Index edged higher by 2.37 points, or 0.2 percent, to close on 1,089.49. Volume totalled more than 203,000 shares, while turnover was just shy of $2.6 million.
