Electronic software taken up by Government last November has resulted in speedier payments to vendors, according to Junior Finance Minister David Burt.

Government sent out 47,451 payments between March 1 and May 31 this year, Senator Burt told the Upper House.

“In the Opposition’s Reply to the Throne Speech, the Opposition said they would make sure vendors were paid within 30 days,” he said, adding that the average payment time for the period quoted was 23 days.

A Vendor Payment Hotline has been set up to catch late payments.

Vendors with invoices outstanding 30 days or more should call 279-2660, e-mail vendorquery@gov.bm, or report using a late vendor payment form at www.gov.bm.
