Bermuda’s senior netballers will look to complete the Americas Federation of Netball Association’s (AFNA) Championships in Trinidad on a positive note in their final group match with fellow strugglers Guyana today.

The Island’s representatives have yet to savour a win at the regional tournament being played at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port-of-Spain.

In their last outing, Bermuda suffered a heavy 94-15 defeat against tournament favourites Jamaica who face hosts Trinidad in their final group match today.

Bermuda’s other losses arrived against Barbados (102-13), Trinidad (95-18), USA (64-28), Grenada (60-45), St Lucia (68-26) and Canada (49-31).

Bermuda Netball Association president Tracey Sharrieff is optimistic that the Island’s netballers can end the tournament on a winning note against Guyana.

“We know we can certainly beat Guyana because I believe we have a higher calibre team,” she said. “The girls know what they have to do and are determined to get their first win of the tournament.”
