Colleges international vision is still alive

Bermuda College
Bermuda College has responded to a former board chairmans charge that his vision for the institution was allowed to fall by the wayside.
Insurance leader Brian Halls dream for an internationally-accredited facility with student residences has informed much of the institutions ongoing plans, a college spokeswoman said.
Mr Hall expressed disappointment that Government appeared to ignore his 1998 proposals, in a recent letter to The Royal Gazette.
Mr Halls vision for Bermuda College and his dream of what might have been 14 years ago has not been an empty one, the spokeswoman said.
To the contrary, much of what has been lamented in Mr Halls letter has, in fact, become strategic priorities in the colleges current ten-year strategic plan, now in its fourth year.
The college is on track for hosting overseas students in a Bermuda term cultural exchange, set for 2013.
And a feasibility study for student residences has been completed with a favourable outcome.
Launched in 2008, the Bermuda Colleges strategic plan has finished 23 of its 46 action steps, the spokeswoman added.
Graduate exit surveys have indicated levels of satisfaction with Bermuda College curricula and overall experience, consistently over the 90 percent mark.
She added that the college received accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in 2010 the third such institution outside the continental US to be recognised.
Mr Hall was inducted into the Bermuda College Company of Honorary Fellows in 2003.
