Cup Match money supplyis up 5%
The amount of Bermuda dollar notes and coins in circulation over the Cup Match holiday weekend will be higher than last year.
A total of $136.9 million will be on release during this period, up 5 percent from $130.8 million in 2011.
The value of notes and coins issued to the banks by the Bermuda Monetary Authority between July 1 and July 28, the traditional pre-Cup Match period, was $15.8 million — up 66 percent from the $9.5 million amount issued in Cup Match 2011.
Cup Match and Christmas are traditionally time periods when the figures for notes and coin in circulation rise sharply. This seasonal peak is normally reversed very quickly after the holiday.
