Another disappointing day for the Kirklands

Jesse and Zander Kirkland endured another disappointing day of sailing at the Olympics today.

The brothers finished 18th in today’s first race in the 49er skiff and failed to finish the second after capsizing on the first downwind run.

It was the team’s second DNF of the regatta in what have been challenging conditions so far this week.

The Kirklands are currently last in the 20-boat 49er fleet after four races.

They qualified for the 2012 Olympics after producing a top ten finish at May’s 49er World Championships in Croatia.

Reigning world champions Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen of Australia currently top the 49er fleet at the ongoing Games.
