Men charged with armed home invasion
Two men are facing gun and knife charges in relation to an alleged armed home invasion in Pembroke in the early hours of July 24.
Justis Smith, 34, and Tyun Smith-Ming, 23, were brought to Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon and charged with aggravated burglary while armed with a knife, using an imitation firearm to commit the offence and using an imitation firearm to resist or prevent their arrest.
One of the homes occupants was taken to hospital with a lacerated shoulder after the incident.
Lawyer Elizabeth Christopher appeared for Mr Smith and Dantae Williams represented Tyun Smith-Ming standing in for Larry Mussenden. Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke represented the Crown.
They men, who are both from Pembroke, were not required to enter pleas as their case must eventually be dealt with by the Supreme Court.
No application was made for bail and Magistrate Tyrone Chin remanded them into custody.
They must return to court in two weeks for an administrative hearing.
