Shop thief warned after returning to supermarket
A serial thief was handed a suspended sentence after admitting to trespassing.
Richard Michael Dill, 45, of Marsh Lane, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to trespassing on the property of Marketplace Ltd, in Somerset, on September 13.
Magistrates Court heard that the store manager, David Scott, was informed that the defendant was on the supermarkets property after he had been previously served a written notice banning him from all Marketplace properties.
In court, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner addressed the defendant, asking: You know youve been banned from going to Marketplace?
Dill replied: Yes, but I dont remember receiving any letter.
Mr Warner said that the defendant was banned for stealing from the supermarket on multiple occasions over the years.
A letter was served on you and you know that. Dont go on the peoples property, Mr Warner instructed.
He added: Youve got probation, fines, suspended sentences — all for stealing. Thats why people dont want you on their property.
Dill was sentenced to 30 days imprisonment suspended for 12 months.
