An event will be hosted next week to support the development of dementia care services in Bermuda.

It was arranged between the charity Dementia UK local group Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

There will be an evening session for family carers on Monday. Delegates will participate in all-day conferences on Tuesday, November 27, and Wednesday, November 28, and visits to residential homes on November 29.

According to a press release: “The purpose of the proposed event is to help raise awareness of dementia and of good dementia care practice, enable delegates to understand what dementia is, and explore ways of communicating effectively with a person with dementia.”

It will also cover different approaches to dementia care, and provide guidance for family carers.

“The event will be open to a wide spectrum of people including but not limited to family carers, health and social care professionals, volunteers, and managers,” said the press release.
