BOOSTER SHOT
Courage. Today we attended a horse show at the Equestrian Centre here in Bermuda.
It was a great day and we witnessed many of the talented young riders that will create the future of the sport in this country. The final event was a jumping competition that also included one young person riding his pony against all the large jumper horses. This was an amazing event to witness as several of the competitors, including the young man riding the pony (he is 12 years old), had not jumped this height in competition before.
To our great surprise the young man and his pony cleared all 11 jumps cleanly and with a very good time. The larger horses were unable to clear the jumps cleanly and the young man was the winner of the event. What this demonstrated was the success of teamwork between rider and horse, and the courage to take on the risks when there is a confidence in the team. This just shows that at any time, anything is possible — what can you do this week to create such an opportunity to make a difference.
“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organisational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” — Andrew Carnegie
