Cardiologist leaves Island
The Island is down one heart specialist — but a Bermuda Hospitals Board spokeswoman said care for patients wont be interrupted by the departure.
The BHB confirmed that cardiologist John Doherty had terminated his contract.
However, added the spokeswoman: His patients have options of seeing other highly qualified, on-Island cardiology specialists to ensure their care is not interrupted.
Other cardiologists available at BHB are Carl Levick, Sam Mir and Shane Marshall.
BHB Cardiology Services provide a growing range of specialist testing, treatments and procedures at BHB for both in-patients and outpatients with cardiac disease, she said. These include pacemaker implant and management, transesophogeal ECHO cardiograms, pharmacologic and nuclear stress testing.
At this point in time, BHB is not seeking any additional cardiologists, but BHB will continue to monitor the needs of Bermudas community in order to ensure we have the appropriate level of specialists at the hospital.
