Man found at Woodys had been attacked
Police have now confirmed that the man flown overseas with serious head injuries after being found outside a bar in Sandys was the victim of an assault.
The Royal Gazette understands that the 29-year-old Pembroke man was transported to the west end by boat and left on the dock uncouncious. Sources have also said the assault may have taken place in the Spanish Point area of Pembroke.
Officers were called to Woodys Bar & Restaurant at about 12.45am on Thursday.
On arrival officers observed an unresponsive male on the premises. The victim, a 29-year-old Pembroke man, was treated at the scene by EMTs and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of apparent head injuries.
He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit; however the victim is currently hospitalised abroad receiving specialised care for serious head injuries. His injuries are not as a result of a shooting.
The spokesman added: After further enquiries into this incident, it has been revealed that the victim was in fact assaulted. Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are now investigating this matter and are particularly interested in speaking with those persons who would have been in the car park outside of Woodys around 12.10am on Thursday, or anyone with any information on the circumstances regarding this brutal assault.
Anyone who can assist is urged to contact 247-1739 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477 at the earliest opportunity.
