KEMH’s ‘performance officer’ now off the job
King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s interim chief performance officer Jon Tomlinson is no longer working for the Bermuda Hospitals Board.
A spokeswoman said Mr Tomlinson’s temporary work permit had concluded at the end of November.
He began work at KEMH on June 4.
Mr Tomlinson was taken on from the UK, where the BHB said he had focused on performance and quality improvement for the National Health Service.
His appointment drew controversy, with some hospital staff questioning if he had been qualified enough for the job.
According to sources within KEMH, the post required a degree in healthcare or business, plus ten years’ experience at the senior management level.
BHB refused to provide details of Mr Tomlinson’s education.
BHB CEO Venetta Symonds acknowledged back in October that Mr Tomlinson’s previous experience was “short-term contracts, up to about a year, because his speciality is in turning organisations around”.
Asked if the position would be renewed, the spokeswoman said BHB was currently “reviewing our options to ensure we are resourced appropriately”.
