MS Frontier Re to open Malaysia office
Bermuda-based MS Frontier Re is set to open an underwriting office in Malaysia starting in the New Year.
The company, which writes reinsurance business for its parent company, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Limited (MSI), the second-largest non-life insurer in Japan, confirmed that all necessary regulatory approvals and licences have been issued by the Labuan Financial Services Authority in Malaysia to begin writing business from the new branch operation.
MS Frontier now has two underwriting centres, Bermuda and Malaysia, and a marketing office in Switzerland, which will service all of our valued clients across the globe, the company said in a statement.
Also starting January 1, MS Frontier Re will begin underwriting business that was once written by its sister office MSRe in Dublin, which closed in October. The new business primarily consists of short-tailed classes of treaty business on both proportional and excess of loss basis in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Oceania.
Established in 2002, MS Frontier Re celebrated its tenth anniversary in Bermuda this year.
