Senior arrested after bike crash near Aquarium

A senior citizen was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol on Boxing Day.

The 69-year-old Southampton resident was travelling west near the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo on North Shore Road, when he lost control of his auxiliary cycle and hit a wall around 11.30pm.

Said a police spokesman: “The man was taken to [King Edward VII Memorial Hospital] however his injuries were not as serious as first suspected.

“The Southampton man was later arrested for suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.”

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact police on 295-0011.
