A 52-year-old Pembroke man caught with a single “rock” of crack was fined in Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine.

Anthony Brown was riding a motorcycle at the junction of Marsh Lane and North Street when he was stopped by police on the evening of July 16, 2012.

The court heard Brown was searched by officers after he appeared nervous, and he was arrested when a brown paper twist in his pocket containing an off-white substance was discovered.

Asked what it was, Brown told police: “It’s a rock.” It was found to contain 0.46g of cocaine.

Brown apologised to the court, and was fined $500 by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner, with 30 days to pay.
