Dunkley meets Police Commissioner
Public Safety Minister Michael Dunkley has met with the Police Commissioner to discuss challenges in St Georges, Government said yesterday.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Jeff Baron and parliamentarians for the St Georges area Nandi Davis and Kenneth Bascome.
I suggested this meeting as a means to start a dialogue with the representatives for the area and the Commissioner immediately agreed.
The discussion was open and productive. The Government is committed to supporting Police efforts to ensure safety and security in St Georges and open lines of communication are essential, said Minister Dunkley in a press statement.
He would not be drawn on details of the discussion saying he would prefer not to make any comments until progress is made on the matters discussed.
In the run-up to the general election, the One Bermuda Alliance promised a beefed up police presence in St Georges including a fully functioning police station.
