Call for BHB report deadline to be extended

A report on governance at the Bermuda Hospitals Board needs a one-month extension, Ombudsman Arlene Brock has recommended.

She believes that the investigation by Canadian firm Howard Associates, originally due at the end of this month, should get an end-of-February deadline.

The general election and holiday season delayed interviews, Ms Brock said.

And she added that the healthcare consultants could use the extension to meet with the new Health Minister Patricia Gordon Pamplin and new BHB Board.

Ms Brock said the report was “turning out to be a robust, comprehensive review”, adding that she had met with Howard Associates staff, and was “satisfied that they are thorough, and getting a good grip on the issues”.
