A 49-year-old Devonshire man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, following a serious single vehicle accident around 8.30pm on Sunday.

Police and first responders attended the scene at the junction of Southside Road, Longfield Road and Westcott Road in St George’s.

A police spokesman said the rider appeared to have “attempted to negotiate a round-a-bout at the junction”.

The spokesman continued: “The motorcyclist was initially believed to be seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“However, after being medically examined, his injuries were deemed to be less serious. He was later discharged and arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.”

The motorcycle was extensively damaged and inquiries are continuing.

Police officers arrested a total of ten people on suspicion of impaired driving over the weekend.

Officers also arrested 23 people for outstanding warrants and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the Island.
