Woolridge wins Wushu gold

Bermuda Gas delivery technician Jermal Woolridge delivered Bermuda a gold medal last week at the Brazil International Wushu Championships.

Wushu, which translates to “Chinese free style”, is a full contact sport derived from Chinese martial arts. Mr Woolridge, who trains and competes with the Bermuda Sanshou Association, described the competition as an “awesome experience”, adding: “To win the gold medal made it feel that much more memorable.”

Bermuda Gas general manager Judith Udden said Mr Woolridge’s colleagues organised a ‘welcome home’ reception upon his return this week to honour his accomplishment.
