Cash windfall for charities

From left to right: Glen Faries of th Sunshine League, Anton Gilbert of Outward Bound, Chris Reeves of Bowring Marsh, Tanya Simmons of CedarBridge Academy, Deborah Narraway of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, and Gita Blakeney Saltus of Caron Bermuda.

The donations will benefit the personal development group Outward Bound, the youth charity Sunshine League and the addiction treatment service Caron Bermuda.

The two companies also teamed up for donations to CedarBridge Academy, to help students with disabilities attend the school’s annual field trip, and to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s Relay for Life cancer fundraiser.

Insurance brokers Marsh, and risk and reinsurance intermediaries Guy Carpenter and Company, opted to collaborate on donations this year, according to Marsh and McLennan Companies’ Bermuda chairman David Ezekiel. Mr Ezekiel also heads Marsh’s Bermuda Charity Committee.

“Each of these non-profit organisations provides a positive and valued service in the community, and we are pleased to offer our support,” Mr Ezekiel added.

Outward Bound delivers outdoor experiences and challenges to persons of all ages, while the Sunshine League provides a transitional living centre primarily for young men aged 18 to 25.

Caron Bermuda assists with addiction treatment both on and off the Island, as well as outpatient counselling.
