On the mark: Leverock, left, scored a header for Harrisburg against Richmond

Dante Leverock, the Bermuda defender, was on target in Harrisburg City Islanders’ 3-2 victory over Richmond Kickers at the Skyline Sports Complex at the weekend.

The win leaves Harrisburg three points adrift of sixth-place Pittsburgh Riverhounds, who occupy the final play-off spot in the United Soccer Leagues Eastern Conference. Harrisburg have two games in hand.

Leverock, a regular for Bermuda in their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, headed home from Jason Plumhoff’s corner kick in the 60th minute to put Harrisburg 3-0 up.

Yann Ekra scored Harrisburg’s opener in the 27th minute through a José Barril free kick before Brett Jankouskas doubled the lead with a powerful strike early in the second half.

Leverock then extended his team’s lead but Kickers pulled a goal back when Jason Yeisley scored from the penalty spot after being pulled down by Barril.

Yeisley scored his second penalty in the 86th minute after he was fouled in the box by Shaquelle Dyer.

Harrisburg return to action on Wednesday against Louisville City at 7pm.
