Police look into release of robbery video online
Police are investigating how CCTV footage of a robbery in Smith’s at the weekend found its way online.
A police spokesman said: “While the footage provides a good description of the suspects, police did not authorise the dissemination of the clip.
“We are looking into this to understanding how the footage got into the public domain.”
Officers received a report of a robbery at Belvin’s Variety on Middle Road at 5pm on Sunday.
A man walked into the store and stole money out of the register. He escaped on a waiting motorcycle driven by a second man.
The spokesman said: “Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with any information is asked to contact Sergeant Hayden Small at the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.”
