WTS Montreal live streaming
The International Triathlon Union’s flagship event returns to our screens this weekend and The Royal Gazette is delighted to bring all the action to you live.
The setting for the penultimate leg of the eight-event World Triathlon Series is Montreal.
Sadly for local viewers Flora Duffy is not in the field, as she battles to recover from an injury that has blighted her 2018 season after the amazing heights of winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal on the Gold Coast in Australia and then MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda in spectacular fashion.
We wish Flora well in her recovery and know that she will be back doing what she enjoys best soon.
That said, the show must go on and, starting on Saturday at 2.30pm Bermuda time, World Triathlon Montreal begins in earnest with the elite women racing. Series leader Katie Zaferes, of the United States, heads the field, followed by Vicky Holland, the Briton who is enjoying a fine comeback year, and Rachel Klamer, of the Netherlands.
The elite men will race on Sunday, also at 2.30pm, with Mario Mola, the Spaniard who is seeking to finish the year as series champion for a third successive time, enjoying a lead of more than 1,000 points.
Mola, who can expect to be challenged in Montreal by Australian Jacob Birtwhistle, Richard Murray of South Africa and countryman Fernando Alarza, is ensured of going into the Grand Final on the Gold Coast next month as the series leader.
WTS Montreal will be raced over the full Olympic distance of a 1,500-metre swim, 40-kilometre cycle and 10km run.
This the second iteration of WTS Montreal. Last year’s inaugural champions were Javier Gómez Noya, of Spain, who is not in the field this weekend, and Ashleigh Gentle, of Australia, who is.
As in each of our previous events, both races will be available for replay after a certain period.
