The Canadian Commissioner to Bermuda has predicted the Island's business links with Nova Scotia would continue to grow.

On his second annual visit to Bermuda, Daniel Sullivan, Canada's Consul General in New York, pointed to a range of attributes in Halifax which make it ideal for outsourcing.

While Nova Scotia shares the same time zone as the Island, Mr. Sullivan said a large pool of skilled labour, cost-effective economy, good communications and transportation all help make Canada attractive to Bermuda-based firms.

"You can see not only Halifax but Canada being an attractive location for Bermudian companies that want to outsource somewhere outside Bermuda," he said, yesterday.

People meeting Mr. Sullivan during his four-day visit to strengthen ties between the two countries include Deputy Governor Mark Capes, US Consul General Gregory Slayton, Mayor of Hamilton Sutherland Madeiros, House of Assembly Speaker Stanley Lowe and Opposition Leader Kim Swan.

He will return later in the year to meet Governor Sir Richard Gozney and Premier Ewart Brown.

There are more than 3,000 Canadian residents in Bermuda while 800 Bermudians are educated in Canada.

Canadians in Bermuda are invited to an annual general meeting tomorrow evening at Daylesford Theatre, Washington Street, Hamilton, at 6.30 p.m.
