Robin Hood have bolstered their squad with Casey Castle and Phil Parsons joining from PHC Zebras and X-Roads respectively during the first transfer period.

Hood have also retained forward Antwan Russell, who was considering hanging up his boots, for at least another season

“We talked with Casey towards the end of last season and he seemed eager to come in, so we eventually got it done,” John Barry Nusum, the Hood coach, said.

“He is going to be a good addition to the team. He can play all along the right side and definitely can do a lot of things to add to the squad.

“He has been a Bermuda player and been in that pool for a while, so he brings a lot of experience. It’s definitely good to have him in.

“Phil is a workhorse who I see as a midfielder for us. Just like Casey he can play a multitude of positions, which is something I like. They are not just logged into one position, so it’s good to be have those two on board.

Nusum believes Hood’s squad lacked depth last season.

“We definitely have some good options and I think that was one thing we lacked last year,” he said.

“We had a strong squad of 12 to 13 players but didn’t have much else after. This is definitely going to bring us up a bit more in terms of depth and quality.”

Nusum capped his first season at the helm by guiding Hood to FA Cup glory. Hood, who finished second in the league, also reached the semi-final of the Dudley Eve Trophy and Friendship Trophy competitions, losing to eventual champions PHC on each occasion.

The same two teams will meet in the Charity Cup with the date and venue of the traditional curtain-raiser yet to be confirmed.

Nusum has suggested that Russell, a former Bermuda striker, may play a different role next season. Russell was the leading scorer in the Premier Division last season with 20 goals.

“As far as I know right now Antwan will be playing,” Nusum said. “He hasn’t told me anything different.

“We will see what his role entails next season because obviously he’s getting a bit older. But he still got 20 goals last season. He’s in the team and that’s the plan moving forward.”
