Tigers to face Heat in final


Lindos Tigers and Phoenix Heat will battle it out in the final of the Bermuda Netball Association Senior League Merle Parfitt Hustle Tournament after another action-packed day on court at Bernard Park on Saturday.

The tournament, named after Merle Parfitt, a player, coach and mentor to many, consisted of six teams, Lindos Tigers, North Village Lady Rams, Storm Lightning, Phoenix Heat, Storm Thunder and Robin Hood, who competed in a double-elimination format.

The two finalists enjoyed a victory over one another, while Lindo Tigers also overcame Storm Lightning and North Village Lady Rams, with Phoenix Heat prevailing against Robin Hood and Storm Thunder.

Saturday also saw matches for both age groups played in the Digicel Bermuda Junior Netball League, with goals galore scored from the four games.

In the under-12 division, Phoenix Sparks and North Village Lady Rams White could not be separated in a 26-goal thriller, drawing 13-13 with Jazayla Brimmer and Uni Simmons impressing for their respective teams.

Meanwhile, six goals from Simoa Rudo helped inspire North Village Lady Rams Red to a 10-7 victory over Storm. Nevaeh Barclay scored four goals for Storm.

In the under-16 division, Amiah Butterfield demonstrated her clinical shooting, scoring an incredible 34 goals to steer Storm Lightniong to a 43-5 rout of Warriors despite the best efforts of Kammie Mills to inspire her team.

In an all North Village encounter, Lady Rams Red defeated Lady Rams White in a 35-12 victory. Coriah Simmons and Rachelle Webster shared the goals for the winners, while Sanaa Berkeley and Gabrielle Romaine did likewise for the Whites. In the final match of the day, Phoenix Fire beat Storm Thunder 18-12 with K’xiyae Gibbons and Makaylie Smith performing strongly for their respective teams.
