Manders and Whitter to host fun day in memory of parents
Manders Tennis Management will host the Disa and GG Fun Day at the Fairmont Southampton Tennis Club on Sunday.
Gavin Manders and Jovan Jordan-Whitter, the Fairmont coaches, both lost a parent this year and have organised the event in their memory.
Manders’s mother, Disa Potgieter-Oubella, and Whitter’s father, George “GG” Jordan, both died at the start of year.
Manders, the Bermuda No 1, said the event was the “perfect way to honour two wonderful people” and bring the tennis community together.
“My mother was someone who knew how to use her love and passion to bring people together and truly gave all of herself to everyone she touched,” Manders said.
“I miss her every day and want her memory to live on through me in whatever way I can.
“Jovan and I decided what better way to honour them, than to share our passion for tennis with everyone, and bring the tennis community together.
“This event is for everyone and anyone, and it’s about coming together through tennis to honour two wonderful people. This will be an annual event moving forward.”
The fun-packed event will include a beat-the-pro competition, a fun castle, snow cones, red ball tennis, a challenge court and ball machine court.
The event runs from 11am to 3pm.
