Phillips bows out in second round
Daniel Phillips bowed out of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre in Seville, Spain, with his head held high after losing his second-round match against Leon Lzquierdo yesterday.
The 14-year-old went down 6-2, 6-3 as a series of errors came back to haunt him.
“I made mistakes and was not able to take advantage when I had control of the ball,” Phillips said. “I am going back to work on this in training.”
Phillips is learning his craft at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Majorca, where he has made significant strides towards his objective of becoming a professional player.
