An apology to the BFA

In an editorial that was published on Monday, it was incorrectly suggested that the Bermuda Football Association had acted unethically in deciding the destination of the First Division title when declaring on May 27 that the 2019-20 season could not reach a natural conclusion because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The mistaken belief was that St George’s Colts were three points behind ultimate joint champions Devonshire Colts, who had completed their league fixtures before football stopped for Covid-19, and not one.We apologise unreservedly for any discomfort the editorial brought the BFA and its stakeholders, and conclude that the decision to share the title was not only magnanimous but praiseworthy. The editorial has been amended to remove the offending passage.
