Bermudian businesses can earn an internationally recognised stamp to highlight Covid-19 safe practices.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority announced that the World Travel and Tourism Council “Safe Travels” stamp is available on the island through a programme launched at the Bermuda Tourism Summit today.

So far 11 hospitality businesses have received the designation after meeting “robust health and hygiene standards” through a pilot programme, now open to all tourism-related businesses.

Tracy Berkeley, the BTA director of people, said: “We’re proud to recognise this first group of successful applicants with a Safe Travels Stamp, and we’re thrilled to invite the wider tourism community to join this worthwhile initiative.

“The WTTC brand delivers valuable global recognition and helps build trust and confidence that benefits both visitors and residents.”

The WTTC empowered the BTA to issue the stamp to local businesses meeting the highest Covid-19 public health standards recommended by the World Health Organisation and the US Centres for Disease Control.

The first batch of businesses to earn the designation include Barracuda Grill, the three Bermuda Visitor Services centres, Dolphin Quest Bermuda, Flanagan’s Irish Pub, the Frog and Onion, Hog Penny, Lili Bermuda Perfumery, the Pickled Onion, the Royal Palms Hotel, Tobacco Bay and Tuckinn Rentals.
